Description (Japanese): ハウチワカエデの変種ではない。特徴は１年枝に毛が多い。ただし、夏を過ぎるとなくなることもある。春の葉はビロードのようであるが、後、洋紙質になる。地域によって普通の木で葉の小型がある。秋は橙色〜赤いものまである。種子から育てるとよいが、接ぎ木、挿し木は高度の技術を要する。
Description: This is not a variety of Acer japonicum. It is very hairy on the one year branch. After summer, sometimes it becomes hairless. The spring leaves are velvety, and later paper-like. There is a local variety with small leaves. The foliage colors in autumn are from orange to red. Usually it is easily propagated by seedling, but grafting and cuttings require an advanced skill.
