They have stout, elongated, spindle-shaped to cylindrical, sometimes hollow pseudobulbs, each with 1-3 leathery, semi-rigid, ovate to oblong leaves. Racemes or panicles of showy flowers are produced from the tips of the pseudobulbs, and may be extremely long.
