Description (Japanese): 通常のススキよりも葉が細い個体に対する名前。株の高さは通常のススキと同等なものから矮性のものまで見られる。特に矮性の個体は「屋久島ススキ」として流通する。これに対しては別の品種名を与えるのが妥当と考えられるが、「屋久島ススキ」を定義する大きさやその他の形質を明確にする必要がある。
