Description (Japanese): 半耐寒性の多年草で、花は白く、花筒がやや太く (直径3〜8mm) 長いのが特徴。タバコ品種に耐病性を導入した野生種の一つとして知られる。近縁のN. longiflora は花筒が細く(1〜2.5mm) 茎につく葉の付け根が茎に沿って伸びないので区別できる。
