Description (Japanese): 茎は球形から短円柱形で、濃青緑色、高さ12–15cm、直径10–12cm、12–19稜。中刺は1–3本、ないことも多い。縁刺は7–15、淡褐色から黒色、まっすぐで硬く、長さ3.5cm。花は長さ6cmまで、白色で赤みを帯びることがある。
