Description (Japanese): 茎は初め単幹だが、古くなると子吹きし、半球〜球形でオリーブ色、高さ1–3cm、直径2–6cm、細かいひだのある6–11稜をもつ。棘は1–2本で古くなると脱落する。花は直径7–14mm、白色で中肋が桃色になる。ワシントン条約の附属書Ⅰ掲載種。
