Description (Japanese): 1200m以上の高山に自生するが。半日陰で育てると、平地でも生きる。矢までは高木が多く、群落をなしている。花から果実までは上を向く。葉柄は、長いものが多い。成木の葉は大きいが、幼木はヒナウチワカエデと見間違えやすい。秋は黄色になるものが多いが、赤くなるものもある。

Description: This species grows wild at elevations of over 1,200m, but it can be grown in partial shade in lowland areas. many tall trees can be seen int eh mountain, forming a large stand. The flowers and fruits are borne in upright corymbs. There are many leaves with long petioles. The leaves when mature are large. At younger stage, it tis similar to Acer tenuifolium with small leaves. In autumn, most of leaves are yellow, some are red.
