Description (Japanese): イタヤカエデの仲間とする学者もいるが、明らかに異なる。10〜20mにもなる木。樹皮は太めの枝までコルク状。葉には、鋸歯がなく両面に毛がある。雌雄同株。湿地を好む。地植え向き。

Description: Some botanists include this species in a group of Acer pictum, even though both species are different obviously. It is a tree growing to 10–20m high. The bark of trunk and thick branches is corky. The leaves have no marginal serrations, and are hairy on the both sides. Monoecious flower. It prefers moist places and is suitable for large garden planting.
