形態的によく似たTristagma (Ipheion) sessile とは別種。Sassone et al. (2021) では以下の系統樹が得られている。(((T.graminifolium,(T.gracile,T.violaceum)),(T.patagonicum_4accs,T.nivale_3accs))Tristagma1,((T.bivalve_1acc,((T.circinatum,T.ameghinoi),(T.sessile_2accs,T.bivalve_3accs)))Tristagma2,(I.uniflorum_7accs,(I.tweedianum_2accs,I.recurvifolium_3accs))Ipheion));
しかし、著者はIpheion 3種には形態的な共有派生形質（苞の先端が２裂するなど）が存在するので、更なる分析結果が出るまではIpheion を当面認めることを主張しており、POWOでもI. recurvifolium が認められている。
