Description (Japanese): 代表的な葉形は、やや深裂で基部が心形だが、浅裂で基部が鈍形になっているものもある。葉裏全面に短毛がある。ただし夏から秋にかけては葉ずれによって毛が落ちている場合もある。鋸歯はない。工芸品、家具類その他に使われるのは木目が大変美しいからである。

Description: The typical leaf is more or less deeply lobed and the base is cordate, but some are shallower lobed with obtuse base. The whole underside of leaf is covered with short hairs, but from summer to autumn falling them off by elf rubbing. The leaves of the infrataxa of this species do not have a serration. Its wood is used for woodworks for its extremely beautiful grains.
