Description (Japanese): 谷間の湿地に自生。雌雄異株、同株もある。春の緑はきれい。芽出しのとき、鱗片葉が長く伸び赤い。秋は葉が黄色で、枯れても春まで落ちない。
Description: A dioecious, or monoecious tree growing wild in moist places in the valley. The spring foliage color is beautiful tender green. When leaves emerge, the long and red scale leaves are seen. In autumn, the leaf color turns to yellow, retaining the dead leaves until spring.
