Description (Japanese): 高さ8mにもなる木。葉幅3〜8cm で、葉は柔らかな感じ。花は萌芽と同時に咲く。雌雄異株。まれに両性花の樹もある。山地では谷間に自生。半日陰、湿地を好む。秋は黄色に色づく。鉢植えは、やや難しい。
Description: A tree reaches up to 8m high. The leaves are 3–8cm wide, having a soft feeling. The flowers open with leaves. The flowers is dioecious, rarely hermaphrodite. It grows in mountainous valley and prefers moist partial shady places. In autumn, the leaves turn to yellow. It is slightly difficult to grow in a container.
