Description (Japanese): 多年草で茎はない。中部地方以北の低山に個体数が多く、日当たりの良い二次林の林縁や道ばた、畑の土手などを好む。花の色は鮮やかな紅紫色が多いが、青みが強いものや薄いものなど変化が多い。全体に毛が多く、とくに距や子房、果実などに毛があるのが特徴だが、地域によっては無毛のものもある。
