Description (Japanese): 東北の西側、北陸には自生がないが、他の地方の山地には多く見られる。下枝を落とし高木になりやすい。葉は大小さまざま、裂片の幅もさまざまある。鋸歯は細かくそろっている。春の芽出しの色、夏の葉色、秋の紅葉が多彩で、大きな鉢で栽培すると楽しめる。

Description: This species is commonly found in the mountainous regions throughout Japan, except the west side of Tohoku and Hokuriku districts. It becomes a tall tree by shedding lower branches. The leaf size and width of lobes vary considerably, and the serration of the lobes are fine and formal on the margins. The foliage color of spring, summer and autumn are wonderfully colorful and you can also enjoy them by growing it in a large container.
