description_en: Genus of about 30 species of stemless or short-stemmed perennial succulents, closely related to Cotyledon, from semi-arid areas of southern Africa. The thick, fleshy leaves are clustered or spirally arranged, and the small, tubular flowers, with spreading lobes, are borne in spike-like cymes, mainly in summer. Where temperatures fall below 7°C (45°F), grow in a temperate greenhouse or as houseplants; in warmer areas, grow in a raised bed.
