description_en: Genus of approximately 35 species of perennials found in grassland and stony habitats in the mountains of Europe and Asia. They have simple, entire, hairy, mainly basal leaves. Upright stems bear compact, terminal cymes of small flowerheads consisting only of yellowish white disc-florets, surrounded by leaf-like, usually white-felted bracts. Easily grown, most species are suitable for a rock garden, raised bed, or alpine house.
