The solitary, bell-shaped to open saucer-shaped flowers, each with 5 petals, are produced from the leaf axils. Easily cultivated, pimpernels provide colourful ground cover for a rock garden or the front of a border. A. tenella ’Studland’ is also an excellent specimen for growing in pans in an alpine house.
