Description en: Genus of 8-10 species of slender, erect, basally branching annuals and perennials from grassy, open areas in W. North America. They have finely divided, fern-like, light to blue-green foliage. Solitary, shallowly cupped, paper-thin, 4-petalled (rarely 5- to 8-petalled), poppy-like flowers, in red, orange, or yellow, are borne in spring or summer; they close in dull weather. Grow in an annual border, or in a gravel or rock garden. Good for cut flowers.
