Description en: Hybrid genus, between Chamaecyparis and Cupressus, of fast-growing, columnar, evergreen, coniferous trees. They produce flattened sprays of scale-like, dark green leaves, to 3mm (1/8in) long. Female cones are spherical; male cones are ovoid, yellow, and 2-3mm (1/16-1/8in) long. Grow as specimen trees or use for hedging. Contact with the foliage may aggravate skin allergies.

Propagation en: Root semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.

Pests en: May be affected by honey fungus. Coryneum canker may cause the death of twigs and ultimately entire trees. Aphids may cause dieback.

Description ja: Chamaecyparis x Cupressus. この属に相当する種はCupressocyparis laylandii, C. notabilis, C. ovensiiの3種があるが、いずれも片親がCh. nootkatensisであり、現在はChamaecyparisではなく、広義のCupressusまたは単型のCallitropisになっている。そのため、現在、この属に分類される種は存在していない。この属名自体は認められるが、現存する種はなく、x Chionoscillaと同じ状況になっている。
