description_en: Genus of approximately 150 species of deciduous and evergreen trees, shrubs, and climbers from Africa, S. and E. Asia, and Australia, found in habitats ranging from tropical woodland to dry, open savannah. The alternate leaves are simple and entire or toothed, with persistent stipules. The small, 5-petalled flowers have central bosses of many stamens, and may be borne singly or in small, terminal or axillary cymes. In frost-prone areas, grow half-hardy and frost-tender species in a temperate greenhouse. In warmer climates, grewias are suitable for growing as specimens or in shrub plantings.
