description_en: Genus of 3 or 4 species of deciduous shrubs found on cliffs and rocky ledges in canyons and woodland in S.W. USA and Mexico. They have opposite, entire, lance-shaped to elliptic or ovate, mid-green leaves, to 5cm (2in) long, and are grown for their fragrant, 4-petalled, cup-shaped white flowers, 2 1/2-5cm (1-2in) across, borne singly or in pairs or threes on side branches. Grow in a shrub border or against a warm, sunny wall.
