Description en: Genus of about 20 species of evergreen shrubs occurring on dry, stony or rocky soils in the Canary Islands, N. Africa, Turkey, and S. Europe. They are grown for their showy, saucer-shaped, usually 5-petalled, white to dark pink flowers, borne singly or in terminal or axillary cymes from early to late summer; each bloom lasts only one day. They have opposite leaves. Rock roses are suitable for growing in a shrub border, on sunny banks, at the base of a wall, around paved areas, or in containers. They are often short-lived.
