Description en: Genus of one species of rhizomatous, clump-forming perennial from mountainous woodland in N. Japan. It has palmately lobed leaves and large, peony- or poppy-like flowers. A very effective plant for a woodland garden, peat bed, or border, G. palmatum grows best in cool, moist climates.
