They have alternate, pinnate to 2-pinnate leaves, and large, pyramidal panicles, l0-35cm (4-14in) long, of shallowly bowl-shaped flowers, followed by unusual, inflated fruit capsules. They are fine specimen trees, flowering best in areas with hot summers.
