Description en: Genus of about 17 species of deciduous shrubs found in woodland and thickets and on prairies and plains in W. China and North and Central America. The flowers are borne singly or in terminal or axillary clusters, spikes, or dense racemes. The leaves are simple and opposite. Very hardy, and tolerant of poor soil, pollution, and exposed sites.
