Description en: Genus of 4 species of evergreen perennials from low-lying woodland, often by streams, in South Africa. They have swollen, bulb-like bases, and are grown for their erect, narrowly lance-shaped to strap-shaped, dark green, basal leaves and robust, tubular to trumpet-shaped, colourful flowers, borne in umbels on stout stems. In frost-prone areas, grow in a conservatory or warm greenhouse, or as houseplants. In hot climates, grow in a border or bed, or among shrubs. All parts of C. miniata may cause mild stomach upset if ingested, and the sap may irritate skin.
