description_en: Genus of 5 or 6 species of perennial succulents from hilly lowlands of Namibia and South Africa. They have 4-angled, fleshy, minutely hairy, usually toothed, purple-spotted, mid-green stems; in some species these bear tiny leaves. Diurnal, stalked, urn-shaped flowers develop from the bases of new shoots in summer. Where temperatures fall below 10°C (50°F), grow in a temperate or warm greenhouse. In warm, dry areas, use in a desert garden.
