description_en: Genus of about 30 species of single- or cluster-stemmed palms found in moist forest habitats from coastal lowlands to mountain valleys, from Micronesia to Australia, New Guinea, and the Solomon Islands Pinnate oblong-elliptic, glossy leaves are composed of linear leaflets. Greenish white or greenish yellow, 3-petalled flowers are produced in panicles below the leaves, followed by spherical to ovoid, red, orange, or purplish black fruits. In frost-prone climates, grow in a warm green-house, or as houseplants. In tropical regions, grow as specimens in a small lawn, or to add height and interest to a shrub border.
