description_en: Genus of about 80 species of deciduous or evergreen, terrestrial ferns occurring usually in sheltered sites in semi-desert regions, mainly in South Africa and South America, but also in Canada, the USA, and Australasia. Pinnate or 2-pinnate fronds arise from an erect rhizome in spring. Sori are produced around the segment margins. Grow in a terrace or rock garden. In cool climates, grow tender species in a cool to warm greenhouse.
