Distribution en: Afghanistan to W. Himalaya

Description en: Genus of one species of deciduous shrub found in forests in the W. Himalayas. It is cultivated for its showy flowerheads of petalless flowers, each with 20 or more yellow stamens surrounded by large bracts. Leaves are simple and arranged alternately. Grow as a specimen shrub.

Hardiness en: Fully hardy; but late frosts may damage flowerheads.

Cultivation en:

Propagation en: Sow seed in containers in a cold frame in autumn. Take green-wood cuttings in early summer, or semi-ripe cuttings in late summer.
