Africa, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. They have erect or prostrate, 4-angled or rounded, prominently toothed stems, and produce compact cymes of diurnal, bell- or cup-shaped flowers, usually near the stem tips, in summer. Where temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F), grow in a warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, use in a desert garden.
