description_en: Genus of about 30 species of leafless, perennial succulents, formerly classified under Caralluma, from mostly hilly terrain in the Arabian Peninsula, E. Africa, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. They have erect or prostrate, 4-angled or rounded, prominently toothed stems, and produce compact cymes of diurnal, bell- or cup-shaped flowers, usually near the stem tips, in summer. Where temperatures drop below 10°C (50°F), grow in a warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, use in a desert garden.
