description_en: Genus of one species of marginal aquatic perennial from E. USA. It has large, thick rhizomes producing oblong to narrowly elliptic, submerged, floating, or aerial leaves, and curious, pencil-like spadices that stand well above the water. Ideal for the margins of an informal pool, it associates well with waterside irises and primulas in early summer.
