description_en: Genus of about 12 species of fibrous-rooted, clump-forming perennials, often included in Sisyrinchium, found in moist grassland from sea level to subalpine regions in North and South America. They have mostly basal, stem-clasping, linear or lance-shaped leaves, and are grown for their nodding, trumpet-shaped to bell-shaped flowers which are borne in spring. Grow in a shady rock garden, peat bed, or alpine house.
