description_en: Genus of 6 species of bulbous perennials, related to Fritillaria and Lilium, found in open woodland, scrub, and rocky mountains from Afghanistan to W. China. They produce basal tufts of narrowly lance-shaped leaves in winter, followed by racemes of nodding, trumpet- or funnel-shaped flowers in summer. In frost-prone areas, grow in a cool, protected site outdoors, or in a cool greenhouse. They grow best in areas with cool summers.
