Distribution en: Tropics & Subtropics to E. U.S.A.

Description en: Genus of 40 species of semi-evergreen and deciduous, scrambling or climbing ferns from tropical and subtropical forests worldwide. The midrib of the frond continues to grow, producing new pinnae in distant pairs; each pinna has a long, often forked stalk and a varying number of leaf-like segments. Spores are produced in small spikes at the segment margins. In frost-prone areas, grow in a warm greenhouse. In warmer areas, grow in moist woodland.

Hardiness en: Half hardy to frost tender. L. palmatum will withstand short periods at -5°C (23°F).

Cultivation en:

Propagation en: Sow spores at 21°C (70°F) as soon as ripe. Divide plants before the leaves develop. See also p.51.

Pests en: Trouble free.
