It has 2- or 3-pinnate, dark green leaves, and umbels of star-shaped flowers produced in mid-summer. The strongly celery-scented roots and shoots are used as a vegetable or in salads, and the seeds for flavouring. Suitable for a herb garden. Contact with the foliage may cause photodermatitis.
