description_en: Genus of 3 or 4 species of dwarf, hummock-, mat-, or clump-forming perennials from screes or rocky, fell-fields in the mountains of New Zealand. They have obovate-wedge-shaped or linear to lance-shaped, closely over-lapping, intensely silver-hairy leaves and, in summer, bear small, flat yellow flowerheads surrounded by collars of white-woolly bracts. Effective in a peat bed, rock garden, or alpine house, but difficult to grow in dry climates.
