Some doum palms are stemless, some have creeping stems; others are tree-like with branching trunks. The leaves are fan-shaped, and tiny, bowl-shaped, 3-petalled fiowers are borne in panicles between them. In frost-prone climates, grow doum palms in a warm greenhouse (they require very dry heat to thrive under glass). In dry, frost-free regions, grow the creeping and stemless species as ground cover and the tree-like ones as specimen trees.
