Distribution en: S. Mexico to Guatemala

Description en: Genus ofa single species of evergreen, epiphytic perennial (bromeliad), closely related to Hohenbergia from rainforest at altitudes up to 1,800m (6,000ft) in Guatemala. It produces rosettes ofstrap-shaped, spiny-toothed leaves, and stout, woolly scapes bearing cylindrical, densely flowered infiorescences in summer. Where temperatures fall below 18°C (64°F), grow as a houseplant or in a warm greenhouse. In warmer areas, grow in containers, or in a raised bed in a humid, moist area of the garden.

Propagation en: Sow seed at 24°C (75°F) as soon as ripe. Remove offsets in spring.
