description_en: Genus of 9-12 species of evergreen shrubs found in thickets, rocky and sandy places, and dry woodland in the Mediterranean, Turkey, and N. Africa. They have opposite, variably shaped, light to grey-green leaves and are grown for their showy, saucer-shaped flowers, which resemble rock roses (Cistus and Helianthemum). Grow at the front of a mixed or shrub border, in a large rock garden, or in containers on a patio or in a courtyard garden. Halimiums flower best in regions with long, hot summers.
