description_en: Genus of one species of deep-water aquatic perennial, often treated as an annual, that occurs in still and slow-moving water in Asia. One of the world’s largest aquatic plants, it has large, floating, rounded, thorny leaves, and shuttlecock-like flowers, each stem and calyx covered with stiff prickles. In all but tropical areas, grow E. ferox in a large pool in a warm greenhouse.
