description_en: Genus of about 35 species of deciduous, rhizomatous or tuberous perennials from woodland, scrub, meadows, heathland, and rocky sites in Europe, S.W. Asia, and Siberia. They have alternate, elliptic to ovate basal leaves, with heart-shaped bases, and lance-shaped to ovate or oblong stem leaves. The daisy-like yellow flowerheads are borne singly or in cyme-like corymbs. Grow in a border or naturalize in a woodland garden. The flowers are also good for cutting.
