Distribution en: W. & W. Central North America, Bolivia to S. Argentina

Description en: Genus of 15 species of erect to spreading annuals and perennials found in habitats ranging from woodland to mountain screes, in North and South America. They are cultivated for their ovate to lance-shaped, entire to lobed leaves, and their small, funnel- to trumpet-shaped or tubular, 5-lobed, red, purple, blue, or pinkish yellow flowers, borne singly or in terminal cymes in summer. Grow C. biflora in an annual or mixed border. The flowers are attractive to bees.
