description_en: Genus of 12-15 species of deciduous trees and shrubs from dry or seasonally dry forests of tropical Central and South America. They have alternate, palmately lobed or pinnatifid, long-stalked, mid-to dark green leaves, and are grown for their bowl- or cup-shaped, 5-petalled flowers, borne in terminal panicles before the new leaves unfold. In frost-prone areas, grow as foliage plants in a warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, grow as specimen plants.
