description_en: Genus of one species of small, evergreen shrub occurring on lime-free soil in woodland and subalpine pastures in S.E. Europe. It has needle-like foliage, and bears terminal racemes of bell-shaped flowers from late spring to summer. Cultivated for its neat habit and attractive flowers, B. spiculifolia is suitable for a rock garden, and also associates well with heathers (Calluna, Erica) , to which it is closely related.
