description_en: Genus of about 50 species of evergreen, tendril climbers occurring in tropical and subtropical rainforest from Mexico to Argentina and the West Indies. They are cultivated mainly for their attractive flowers, which are salverform to bell-shaped, each with 5 petal lobes, often reddish purple or pink, and borne in terminal or axillary panicles. The opposite leaves are 3-palmate, or consist of a pair of leaflets with a tendril between them. Where temperatures fall below 10-13°C (50-55°F), grow in a temperate or warm greenhouse. In warmer climates, train on a pergola or wall, or through a tree.
