description_en: Genus of about 25 species of drought-resistant annuals and perennials from rocky sites, including scree and cliffs, in the Mediterranean. They have milky sap and alternate leaves, which are simple or deeply pinnatisect, sometimes with deep, wavy margins. The yellow, daisy-like flowerheads may be borne singly or in many-flowered panicles, the outer-most florets often having red stripes on the undersides. They are useful for dry wall crevices or for a raised bed in a rock garden. Grow in an alpine house for protection against winter wet.
