description_en: Genus of 30-40 species of annuals or evergreen, clump-forming perennials, mostly found in scree and rock crevices from S. Europe to Iran. Few species are cultivated. They have basal tufts of alternate leaves, 8-15cm (3-6in) long, which are usually entire and hairy. They are grown for their funnel-shaped or salverform, bright blue flowers, borne in erect, terminal cymes on leafy stems in early summer. Grow in a raised scree bed or alpine house.
