description_en: Genus of one species of perennial cactus from semi-desert areas of S. California, USA, and N.W. Mexico. It has funnel-shaped flowers produced laterally from the upper part of the stems in summer, and spherical, spiny fruit. In frost-prone areas, grow B. emoryi in a warm green-house for its golden-spined shoots. In warmer areas, grow in a desert garden.
