They have linear to linear-elliptic, entire leaves, and are cultivated for their alternate, daisy-like, crimson-red, pink, white, lilac-blue, or mauve-blue flowerheads, enclosed within papery bracts, borne in summer and autumn. Xeranthemums are suitable for an annual border, and provide long-lasting cut flowers for both fresh and dried arrangements.
